Australia joint issue with New Zealand 1988 FDC

Joint issue with New Zealand

As former British colonies, Australia and New Zealand share a common cultural heritage. Our social and political institutions are similiar, our language the same. Links between the two countries are strong and the joint stamp issue, commemorating Australia's bicentenary, is testimony to this tradition of friendship. The stamp shows the koala and kiwi enjoying a relaxed evening around the campfire.

Stamp design and first day cover illustration: Roland Harvey, Melbourne.
First day cover design: Keryn Christos, Australia Post Graphic Design Studio.
