Australia 1982 : Historic Post Offices FDC

HISTORIC POST OFFICES

The seven post offices appearing on the stamps of the Historic Post Offices issue were all erected before the turn of the century. The offices shown are: Forbes, New South Wales (1881); Flemington, Victoria (1889-90); Rockhampton, Queensland (1892); Kingston S.E., South Australia (1869-70); York, Western Australia (1893); Launceston, Tasmania (1889); and The Old Post and Telegraph Station at Alice Springs, Northern Territory (1872). All seven offices are still in existence and all still provide full postal facilities (except The Old Post and Telegraph Station which is designated as a licensed stamp vending point only).
