AUSTRALIAN LEGENDS
This year's Australia Post Australian Legend is satirist and actor Barry Humphries AO. For more than SO years Humphries has exposed the national psyche with characters including "returned gentleman" Sandy Stone, cultural attache and improbable ambassador Sir Les Patterson, and internationally renowned Housewife Megastar Dame Edna Everage. This stamp issue also celebrates the half-century since Moonee Ponds housewife Mrs Norm Everage took her first tentative steps onto the stage at the University of Melbourne's Union Theatre on 19 December 1955 in the sketch "Olympic Hostess".
