Australia 1984 : 50th Anniversary 1st Official Airmail FDC


50th ANNIVERSARY FIRST OFFICIAL AIR MAIL AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND AUSTRALIA AND PAPUA NEW GUINEA 1984 

The first official air mail between Australia and New Zealand was carried on 17 February 1934, on a flight piloted by Charles Ulm. Ulm flew his aircraft Faith in Australia from Auckland, New Zealand to Sydney. He made the return air mail flight, from Australia to New Zealand, on 11 April 1934. Ulm also made the first air mail flight between Australia and Papua New Guinea, which left Melbourne on 24 July 1934, arriving at Lae in New Guinea on 27 July 1934. The return air mail was flown out from Lae on 30 July 1934.
