Malaysia 2017 : Siri Makanan Perayaan Cina FDC



Makanan Perayaan 

Malaysia mempunyai komposisi multi-etnik yang berbeza dengan kepelbagaian dari segi kebudayaan, kepercayaan dan anutan agama yang berbeza. Meskipun hidup dalam suasana masyarakat majmuk, rakyat Malaysia berjaya hidup secara bersatu-padu di dalam suasana yang harmoni. 

Warga tempatan serta asing boteh merasai keunikan gaya hidup rakyat Malaysia ini semasa musim perayaan yang disambut sepanjang tahun. Kepelbagaian budaya dan makanan perayaan atau tradisi ini, sering kali dihidang dan diketengahkan kepada para tetamu semasa acara rumah terbuka. 

Selain itu, komuniti-komuniti di Malaysia mempunyai petbagai jenis kulinari unik yang akan dihidangkan semasa musim perayaan ini. Justeru, Pos Malaysia akan mengeluarkan siri setem yang memaparkan keunikan makanan etnik di negara ini. Empat sin setem bertajuk Makanan Perayaan akan dikeluarkan sepanjang tahun 2017 yang akan menerapkan makanan perayaan kumputan etnik utama di Malaysia — Metayu, Cina, India, Dayak, yang terdiri daripada kelompok komuniti lban, Bidayuh dan Orang Ulu serta komuniti Kadazan-Dusun — bermula dengan perayaan Tahun Baharu Cina oleh komuniti Cina pada Januari 2017.

Tahun Baharu Cina 

Keistimewaan perayaan Tahun Baru Cina, bermuta dengan makan malam keluarga atau makan besar yang diadakan sehari sebetum perayaan bertangsung. Pada masa tersebut, pelbagai makanan yang dianggap bertuah disedia dan dihidangkan ketika ahli keluarga berkumpul untuk menikmati juadah yang disediakan. 

Semasa jamuan tersebut, pelbagai hidangan makanan yang melambangkan positif antaranya termasuklah 'yu' (ikan) yang membawa maksud 'banyak' dan Fatt Choy (sejenis rumpai taut), sejenis hidangan yang dikatakan membawa atau menjemput rezeki dan kekayaan. 

Di antara pelbagai hidangan yang popular adalah Poon Choi (satu mangkuk besar yang mengandungi udang, abalone, kekapis, ayam, cendawan, sayuran dan sebagainya), Yee Sang (salad campuran dengan hirisan ikan mentah), salad batut (daging di dalam sos istimewa, sayuran, kekacang dan tauhu dibalut di dalam sehelai daun salad), popia, sup ubi teratai, ikan kukus dan banyak lagi.

Sepanjang rumah terbuka Tahun Baru Cina, pelbagai jenis biskut, kek dan pelbagai juadah istimewa dihidangkan. Antara hidangan wajib adalah Nien-gao atau Kuih Bakul - kek metekit yang diperbuat daripada tepung pulut dan gula, Kuaci (biji tembikai), Love Letter atau Kuih Kapit, Kuih Bangkit (biskut tepung ubi putih berperisa pandan/ketapa), Kuih Ros (kuih sarang lebah madu), kacang tanah, tat nenas, Limau mandarin, kurma serta jeruk sayur dan buah yang manis. Yang menariknya, ada juga biskut lain turut dihidangkan seperti Kuih Ros, Kuih Bangkit dan Kuih Kapit, yang menjadi hidangan pada musim perayaan Hari Raya dan Deepavali. Perbezaan dan persamaan ini menjadikan ianya suatu acara gastronomik yang sungguh unik. 

Festival Food 

Malaysia has a distinct multi-ethnic composition with a variety of groups professing different religious and cultural beliefs. Despite the differences, Malaysians have been able to live together in harmony and often come together to celebrate each other's diversity. 

Malaysians and foreigners alike will be able to witness the uniqueness of the Malaysian way of life during the festive seasons celebrated throughout the year. The vast array of cultural activities and festive foods are presented to the guests during the "open house" session. 

Every community in Malaysia has its own unique festive culinary offerings and to celebrate these diversities, Pos Malaysia will be issuing a series of stamps on Malaysia's ethnic festival food. 

The four stamps series to be released over the year will cover festival foods of Malaysia's main ethnic group - Malay, Chinese, Indian, Dayak, consisting the Iban, Bidayuh and Orang Ulu community, as well as the Kadazan-Dusun community -beginning with the Chinese New Year celebrations by the Chinese community in January 2017. 

Chinese New Year 

The highlight of the Chinese New Year celebration is the reunion dinner, where varieties of 'auspicious' foods are prepared and served during the get-together session of family members. 

During the reunion dinner, various feast of auspicious foods are served and each dish represents or symbolises positive attributes for instance, yu (fish) is a symbol abundance and fatt choy (a type of seaweed), represents prosperity. 

Among the many popular dishes served are the poon choi (a large bowl made up of prawns, abalone, scallops, chicken, mushroom, vegetables, etc), yee sang (mixed salads topped with slices of raw fish), lettuce wraps (meat in special sauce, vegetable, beans and tofu wrapped in a single lettuce leaf), spring rolls, lotus root soup, steamed fish and many others, 

During the Chinese New Year open houses, a great variety of cookies, cakes and other delicacies are served, and among the must-haves are the Nien-gao or Kuih bakul, a sticky cake made of glutinous rice flour and sugar, Kuaci (melon seeds), Love letters or Kuih kapit, Kuih bangkit (pandan/coconut flavoured white tapioca flour cookies), Kuih ros (Honeycomb cookies), groundnuts, pineapple tarts, mandarin oranges, dates and preserved sweetened vegetables and fruits. Interestingly, some of these cookies such as Kuih Ros, Kuih bangkit and Kuih kapit are also served during other festivals such as Had Raya and Deepavali, making it a uniquely Malaysian gastronomic affair.
