THE AUSTRALIAN BALL ET 50 YEARS 

The Australian Ballet marks 50 years in an illustrious history. It was formed in 1962 under the guidance of artistic director Peggy van Praagh. Australia's premier ballet company is notable for its classical and contemporary dance repertoire, and for the versatility, technical skill and warmth that its dancers bring to performances. Its full-time ensemble of dancers attracts both audience and critical acclaim, performing outstanding works created by both Australian and international choreographers. Through Its 50 years, this unique and dynamic dance company has come to mirror the shifts that have shaped broader Australian society. The Australian Ballet's dancers reflect the cultural diversity of this country, and its productions engage with issues of consequence and they bring to the fore a distinct sense of the company being Australian.
