Australia 2008 : Olympic Games Beijing FDC


The first Olympic Games of the modern era took place in the Greek capital, Athens, in 1896. The XXIX Olympic Games will be held in Beijing, China, from 8 to 24 August 2008. The competition schedule for the Beijing Olympic Games includes 28 different summer sports with a total of 38 disciplines (a branch of an Olympic sport comprising one or more events). Approximately 10,500 athletes are expected to participate in the Games, including an Australian team of about 500. The number 8 is auspicious forthe Chinese and accordinglythe Games will open at 8 p.m. on the eighth day of the eighth month of 2008. The motto for the Beijing Olympic Games is "One World One Dream".
