-THE COLONIAL COLLECTION-
The period 1810-1850 was a time when the foundations of Australia's pastoral prosperity were laid. Immigrants arrived and pioneers endeavoured to establish a new society in the antipodes. Reaching out from the tiny coastal settlements, land was opened up for the grazing of sheep and cattle. Exploration went hand in hand with these developments, often causing conflict with the Aborigines. Scenes based on the art of the time feature on the five stamps. A panorama in the style of 19th century topographical views runs across the top.
